Well here it starts again :D Some of you may remember my previous M3 if not click here

http://www.e36coupe.com/forum/viewtopic ... 6&t=130030

Unfortunately it came to an end when it was stolen and stripped of its interior. No problem just buy it back and get an interior? errr big problem! The insurance company had it a week and scrapped the car!! I had to go through hell and high water to get compensated as they disposed of the car without telling me. Their argument was i didnt provide them with that information in a certain time period (which i did and had a recorded delivery to prove) so the car was theirs as theyd already sent me a cheque for a measley £3000!!! :smt013 That reflected the "Market Value" of my car!!!!

Anyway i won the case many months later and recieved a healthy payout but Zenith insurance will never see me EVER again thats for sure.

So ive been looking for the "right" 3.0 M3 since and viewed utter crap for months. So just gave up.

Months later trawling ebay (not even looking for cars!) i came across M3 GT no.38 in a very sorry state. I was ready for a project on this scale as it was already a blank canvas ready to be rebuilt to "my spec". I put a massive reserve bid in so not to lose it and won it rather cheap!! I gave the owner my number and he rang me straight away to arrange collection. So i rented a trailer and went and got my new project :D

Before i start id like to give a big thanks to Chris (previous owner) for his assistance getting it from his garage, down the drive and onto the trailer, also my good friend Glen for towing it as my licence doesnt cover towing :thumb:

I was wondering what happened to this.
Looks like you've made a good start and I'm looking forward to seeing yet another GT come back from the brink.

Bit shocked about the strut towers though.. I thought it was only being broken due to engine woes, but obviously not.

Interesting project mate, Certainly looks as if you have your work cut out though.

Youre a braver man than me, ive stripped 3 E36's out now, which is always fun but isnt difficult as everything is sold/junked so you dont have to take "much" care .
But i can only imagine what a ballache it is to do all that in reverse .
Thats also before you get to dealing with the chassis, underbonnet and underneath though.

I assume youre going to drop another 3.0 lump in there and work towards bringing it back to its former glory ?

A question for a newb, what's the difference between the GT and the regular E 36 M3 ?
Visit www.m3gtregister.com and its got all the exact details. The uk cars (like mine) are called the GT Individual

This is fantastic! These cars deserve second chances and I wish you all the best on your journey.
Are you looking to source a genuine GT 3.0L lump or will any S50B30 do?

These cars ran a standard 3.0 engine only the left hand drive ones ran a different engine so just need to find a crap 3.0 M3 (ill pop down the local council estate) and rob the bits (recon as necessary first though)
