How long should I leave it following respray?

What is the best polish? Just what is the difference between polish & wax?

How long should I leave it following respray?

Post by beambeam » Thu Jun 29, 2017 1:07 am

Just had an E91 tailgate repaired and repainted in Sapphire Black. Obviously I'd like to protect the glorious finish on this but I was wondering if I should leave it for a set period before I wash, polish or wax it at all? Unfortunately this was advice that I didn't seek from the bodyshop when I picked up the tailgate on Monday.

Also, recommendations for a good polish and wax that will make Sapphire Black look its best?

Cheers.

When I got mine done, the chap said to leave it for 3-4 weeks.

Wax wise, I've heard good things about Fusso wax, though never used it myself. I'm still a fan of Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid but truth be told, I've not really used any others as I've still got some in the pot

I managed to keep my hands of mine for around 5 weeks if that's any help.

As above - at least 4 weeks ideally.

Thanks for the responses, I'm a wee or so past painting so another three weeks minimum won't be a stretch.

Will look into the Dodo stuff, been around for a long time and seems to still rate highly amongst detailers. Got an old tub of poorboys to finish off first!
